I'm Not Dead...

Me and the boys at a mall in Bremerhaven

Hi! I'm not dead.
Sorry about the looooong delay, but I have been purely unable to get on
this website. So much so that Pookie is putting this on for me. He
alone holds the power. (Pookie, feel free and edit this sucker)

So I hope everyone is doing well. I think about you all often. My
Dreams are full of friends. One particular dream had so many of you all
and we were all at the David Letterman Show!

But enough about what's happening in my head! I bet you are wondering
what is up in the German kingdom.
First of all: The place is absolutely beautiful. Granted, I wasn't sure
what to expect. When Nadine picked me up in Bremen, I was amazed by how
clean everything was (even though I was hardly awake.)
And even though we drove for an hour...it STAYED clean. It is flat
still, like Jackson. It is green still, like Jackson. But, to me, it
has such a history to it. Some of the houses still have thatch roofs
and the streets are cobble stone in many areas. Many people ride bikes.
By the way: I rode bikes with Nadine the other day for about 7 km
(about 10 miles) to pick Noah (7) up from school, and...I thought I was
going to die. That woman is amazing. Her belly is quite round and full
of baby-ness, and she was putting me to SHAME.

Secondly: The family is beyond any expectations i could have. It was so
great to walk out of the airport to Nadine, Samy (5), and Elia (almost
2) and see their smiling faces. It was like I had walked from one house
in Jackson to another. Before I saw them I was praying about how
nervous I felt to enter into their home...but all the fear and
nervousness I felt was replaced by a feeling of home and acceptance.
Praise God.
This stuff doesn't happen a lot. Especially when you fly across the world.
I found out great things, like Ecki (the father of the house...for
those of you who don't know) used to be a HUGE Bon Jovi fan, back in
his wilder days. Any of you who know my roommate Jenny, you know how
amazing that is.
She and I shared many a laugh over Bon Jovi tunes. He's pretty
great...and ridiculous.

The food here is wonderful! Anything that I like (bread, cheese, meat,
fruit...ok...beer) comes good and cheap (literally!)
I love this place.

I have been reading through the practice of the presence of God, by
Brother Lawrence, and it has been good for this occasion. I have such a
hard time with it, but I have been learning much about God's grace when
I fail. I spend most of my time with Samy and Elia. We'll go out and
play at the playground, then pet some cows or some horses. It's really
slow, but tiring in a different way. I don't talk much, so it's been a
perfect time for me to practice living with a continual conversation
with God. I am AWFUL at it. Hahaha...?

My most favorite times are spent with Nadine. The other day she and I
got to go to the doctor and find out if her baby was a boy or a girl.
She said "By the looks of the sonnogram, it's most definitely a boy."
So now she is the only girl (besides me, for now) with four other boys.
God bless her.
While we were out at the doctor she and I took a sidetrip to the
grocery store and had a blast. She is quite a funny lady.

I am sure that I have left out some very important details...
but I need to go for now.

PLEASE e-mail me with any questions or comments instead of leaving them
here, because I can't get to them.
My e-mail is alicecalvery@gmail.com
and you should let me know how you're doing.
I MISS YOU ALL SOO MUCH!
Love smooches hugs etc
My first beer in Germany!

One day to go...

This is going to be a pathetic post...for a first one, at least.
I've just completed a lovely, but really unique Easter.
It is so odd to feel like I'm stepping into a time of Lent as the Easter season is closing.
We're an Easter people, though, eh?
So...um... Hallelujah's my song, right?

Ok.
So I just wanted to get this ol blog boulder a-rollin before I forget about this.
I will do my darndest to keep you all informed about the happenings of zee Germans! esp. the Breitenmosers.

It's late.
More later.
